Privacy Policy for Recall

Information We Collect

Recall does not require an account and does not collect personal information, analytics data, advertising identifiers, or tracking data.

Audio Recording and Transcription

Recall accesses the microphone only when you choose to record audio. Audio transcription is performed locally on your device using whisper.cpp and an on-device speech recognition model. Recordings and transcription results are not uploaded to our servers.

Data Storage

Recordings and transcription results are stored locally on your device. They may be included in backups provided by Apple, depending on your device and backup settings.

Local Pro subscribers can sync recordings and transcriptions across their own iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Sync turns on automatically when Local Pro becomes active and can be paused on any device. Synced audio and transcriptions are stored in the user's private iCloud database and use the user's iCloud storage. The developer does not receive or have access to this private CloudKit data.

If Local Pro expires, syncing pauses and existing copies remain. Recall includes a separate control to stop sync on all devices and delete Recall data from iCloud while keeping data on the current device.

When you delete a recording, it is moved to Recently Deleted and is permanently deleted after 30 days unless you delete it sooner.

Sharing

Recall shares a recording or transcription only when you explicitly choose to share it using the system sharing features. The handling of shared information is governed by the privacy policy of the service you choose.

Support Communications

If you contact us for support, we receive the information you provide, such as your email address and message. We use that information only to respond to your request.

Third Parties

Recall does not sell personal information and does not share information with advertisers or analytics providers.

Children's Privacy

Recall does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or legal requirements change. The updated policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
